Trying a much more open and linear approach on these. I want the photo to stand out and blend in.
Difficult stuff.
I guess that's just the thing with collage that I love so much. I make up endless games and rules for each piece, and my brain just gushes over it's own intense puzzles! Even if only I ever notice the slight nuances in each line, the multiple slices that make up a figure, it doesn't matter. My brain had the infinite pleasure of figuring it all out.

Hi there Julie,
I was wondering if you would share with me what glues you use for the photo's. I don't use the photos in my work, many image transfers but I have a lot of my students cusious about it. My concern is the strike from the brush strokes. Or is there a special trick you use???

Hey Laura...
I am REALLY careful when using the glossy photos, OCD-style. I am currently quite the fan of Golden Matte medium. I only used it on the back of the photo for these, making sure I don't go exactly to the edges with the medium so there is little excess squeezing out. I use a baby wipe(yes, baby wipes--I believe they are alcohol based, and they don't mar the glossy surface I covet!!) in order to wipe off the surface of the photos if they get any goop on them. Water seems to affect the photos, so I found a plain wet rag doesn't work as well...
I have also used matte medium on the tops of photos in the past in order to get rid of the gloss. I think you could probably use a gloss medium if you wanted to encase a photo in the glue and keep a sheen. I have also used acrylic on top of photo, it doesn't hurt it.
Hope this helps!
